[RELEASE] garfio 0.5

December 19th, 2007

I'm translating (partially) this post from juan's (the garfio creator) blog. In our company, Zauber, we are very happy to announce the public release of Garfio. The garfio-05 version is distributed under Apache Software License, Version 2.0. It is a small application that integrates Source Code Management Systems (SCM) and Project Management Systems (a.k.a. Issue Trackers), mainly in software development projects. You can download garfio and see the documentation at:

This garfio version has the following features:
  • From a commit message specify the Issue number and:
    • Add notes to the issue,
    • Mark as resolved,
    • Add worked hours to the issue,
    • Specify in which version an issue is resolved.
    • Avoid to finish a commit if there is any error (Non-existent issue number, the user has no credentials to modify an issue or there are syntax errors).
Garfio supports Mantis, has partial support for Jira and it was conceived to easily support other issue trackers.

Smalltaks 2007 @ BA

December 13th, 2007

Last Monday and Tuesday I attended Smalltalks 2007, a conference that took place at Universidad de Buenos Aires talking about Smalltalk in different aspects related with research, education and industry. I was very please to go to these talks and the great majority of them were extremely interesting but I would like to remark the ones that interested me the most:

  • Traits aware refactoring: I learned about traits that seems a good thing and new refactors introduced (I love refactoring).
  • Seaside, el framework hereje: A very good introduction to Seaside by Esteban Lorenzano.
  • Smallfaces and Seaside Builder: The funniest talk ever.
  • Software development: Even when I knew most of the contents getting them together was very usefull.
  • Aplicaciones Sensibles al Contexto e Hypermedia Fisica: I was very interested in this subject because we are doing similar things.
  • Reflection: A pretty good way to show students a way to understand a little more of why smalltalk is so powerful.
  • Morphic 3.0: I was very happy to hear some mathematics in the conference and to know about this project and the kitchen where it's beeing cooked.
I think that all the talks were interesting but this list responds to my personal interests, try to see the conference page for further information and stay tuned as the promised to continue with this kind of things. Finally I want to thank very much all the people that organized and worked so hard to make this event possible and I feel proud to have in Argentina this kind of conference.

New Office

December 4th, 2007

I'm very happy that our company finally got our new office. We've worked the whole weekend to organize them an do the moving from our old office in San Telmo to this new one in Palermo Hollywood (Yes we only work in cool neighbourhoods). The office is a cool house with a crazy design, many ladders, a little swimming pool, a deck, a peach tree and strange bathrooms. I promise to post the photos we took during the weekend and in some days others showing how Zauber is getting used to this new place. Thanks very much to everyone that helped to put this space better.
